Panel Discussion: Climate (In-)Justice. The Coloniality of the Climate Crisis

Climate (In-)Justice. The Coloniality of the Climate Crisis

To address the climate crisis and to call for climate justice, it is essential to confront colonial systems, colonial violence and power dynamics inherent to capitalism, which have lead to the climate crisis and further enable the exploitation and destruction of our earth.

Legacies of colonialism fundamentally shape who is most vulnerable to adverse impacts of the climate crisis and whose voices are heard in discourse about climate justice. While imperial powers of the global North build/built their wealth on the backs of their colonies in the global South and are the main cause of the climate crisis, former colonies are heavily affected by the climate crisis and most vulnerable to losses and damages.

In the panel discussion سارا بهادری (Sara Bahadori), லக்ஷ்மி தேவசகாயம் (Lakshmi Thevasagayam), and 𐐓𐐁 𐐇𐐈𐐆 (Rose Wanjiku) will discuss the intertwinements of colonialism, racism and the climate crisis.

There will also be possibilities to join via Zoom
