Democracy’s Impact on the Environment: Discussion with Local Environmental Activists
What does democracy have to do with climate action and sustainability? More than you might think. Environmental activists are using democratic tools to push for change in their local communities. Many of them are even able to break out of the mould of a local initiative to create global movements.
Join us for two inspiring discussions with local environmental activists as we explore how civic engagement can drive environmental protection, influence policy, and empower communities to take action.
Session 1: 10:45 – 12:15 (The session is held entirely in English)
Session 2: 14:30 – 16:00 (The session is held entirely in English)
Discover how activism impacts local communities, hear real stories from change-makers, and learn how YOU can become part of the movement for a more sustainable future.
This event is organised by Democracy International e.V. as part of Democracy Camp 2026 . The Democracy Camp is a five-day intercultural youth exchange program focused on democracy, sustainability, intersectionality, inclusion, and Europe. It brings together over 50 young people from ten European countries to explore tools for political participation, best practices, and democratic processes at various levels.
This project is funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are, however, those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
