DESCRIPTION:At the center of this Artistic Talk is the portrait of “Nanny –
	 Queen of the\nMaroons”. According to historical sources\, Nanny was born 
	in present-day Ghana\,\nenslaved\, and forcibly taken to Jamaica\, where s
	he became a leader of the\nMaroons—communities of formerly enslaved people
	 who had liberated themselves.\nThis participatory talk uses the idea of c
	amouflage as a point of departure to\nexplore artistic strategies for enga
	ging with the past\, considering dress as a\nform of resistance\, and givi
	ng voice to marginalized people.\n\nBorn in Jamaica and based in Bonn\, Ch
	eryl McIntosh works across acrylic\npainting\, textile collage\, and exper
	imental materials such as coffee and rust.\nHer practice weaves personal e
	xperience with Black history\, resistance\, and\nmemory\, giving voice to
